I haven't listened to the new Built To Spill yet, despite several people informing me that it is awesome. Normally I'd be first in line to pick it up, but since it is becoming gift-giving season I want to save my money for such things. However, we are going to go see them next week so I should probably start downloading some MP3s, even though "it's not the same, mannnn." I will purchase it eventually, for certain.

I will not purchase this.

I have been having incredibly weird dreams the past few nights. Normally I have a dream I remember once a week or so, but I've had weird dreams the past three nights.

Last night/this morning, I had a dream that I was going to see The Mars Volta at some club, and I went in and for some reason I went back outside. Later I went back inside and I showed the guy at the door my bar stamp on my wrist, but he said it was worn off and didn't look like the bar stamp, so he wouldn't let me in. Then I showed him my ticket stub and took it and ripped it up, so I yelled at him.

The night before, I had a dream that I went to Missoula on a Summer vacation, which I used to do often, except in my dream I took an airplane there. While I was there, I went to a pay laundromat. Later I flew back home and realized I left my clothes at the laundromat in Missoula, and I tried to think of a way to get my clothes back.

The night before that, I had a dream I was a cast member on Saturday Night Live, and it was time for me to go up for my sketch, but I wasn't in my costume yet, but I went up there anyway and tried to improvise why I was wearing regular clothes.

A couple weeks ago I had a dream I was at work, and I decided to take a break. I went to the cold drink aisle and looked around, and grabbed a Coors Light (which I NEVER drink!). I went and paid for it, and started walking back to the breakroom. As I was walking I cracked open the can and took a few sips. Then I realized... I can't drink beer at work! What the hell am I doing? I'm going to get fired! The rest of the dream was me trying to sneak around the store and hide my beercan so no one would see what I did. I went to the bathroom and kept waiting for the people inside to leave so I could dump out the can and throw it away without anyone noticing.

Okay, I've finally stopped screwing around and I've actually got something up and running on ManicPop.org.

http://www.manicpop.org/

I've been meaning to "do something" with my webhost for a while. As you may know, I used to have thechalkoutline.com but after that band disintegrated I re-registered it as manicpop.org, migrated my e-mail and stuff there, but for the most part sat on the domain.

I can't really think of anything better to do with it, so I'm just going to write random stuff there, kind of like I [used to] do here. I will of course continue to write in the LiveJournal when I'm specfically writing about myself, or writing to you, my friends.

If you can't be bothered to visit my site, you can add manicpoporg to your followed feeds on LiveJournal, or add http://www.manicpop.org/backend/feed.rss to your favorite news reader.

If you do visit my site, please register a username and feel free to comment.

Now... logo competiton!

The logo on the front page of my site was basically a placeholder. Can you design a good logo for me? We've already had one entry by bobbymcr:

Can you do better? Yes. So please, submit something. Make it around the same dimensions, PNG, and use transparency if it has a solid background.

So, Brian, Lauren and I were to attend the Mariners game with Brooke, Rachel, and others yesterday, but I was unable to reach either of them via text or voice phone methods. We went to the game anyway hoping to find them but did not, so we left. I assumed it was a misunderstanding or abrupt change of plans, but I still haven't heard anything and now I'm slightly worried.

Update: Just got a text, all is well.

I can't say it's a total surprise as they've been pretty sporadically "a band" of late, but I was hoping for another record.

Just got my tickets for the last show.
"i'm a totally different person... one who confronts his problems, instead of drowning them in sunny day real estate." -- me, playing off my heartbreak the last time SDRE broke up.

Well, I got my tickets for the Paramount show so off we go again! Of course, I'm very happy in love and life and relatively emotionally stable now, so maybe I'm finally that different person after all. However, I'm sure for at least one night this year I'm going to party like I'm 16 and insane.

This was the second weekend in a row when Lauren and I have headed up to Seattle to meet up with her parents and go to a parade with people in various states of undress. This time I was smart enough to remember sunscreen. Sunscreen has changed a lot since I was a boy, you know. Now it mostly comes in spray cans. Don't spray it around your face unless you want to choke to death. I guess next time I will spray it on my hands then rub it on my face.

Since our television is dying and 480i/480p/720p on it is virtually unwatchable, I hit up craigslist to look for TVs and instead found a 480i/1080i-accepting widescreen projector for $50. It is old, but works. Now I can finally play Wii again, this time projected onto my kitchen wall. Just earlier today I was finally playing Super Mario Galaxy again, and yelling "Fuck you, you little bitch" at the enemies and "What the hell are you doing, asshole?" at Mario again. It's been a while. For the moment 1080i is still okay looking on our television so the cable box will remain hooked up to that.

Full tour dates and press release at:

http://sunnydayrealestate.fm/

Details on re-issued Diary and LP2 with bonus tracks (that I've probably already heard, but hopefully better quality):

http://www.subpop.com/channel/blog/sunny_day_real_estate_reunion_tour_plus_sub_pop_reissues_of_diary_and_lp2

<strike>Okay, I'm doing this mainly to sort out all the crazy thoughts in my head, but if anyone else finds it helpful, excellent.

I am bouncing up and down all over my apartment just like I did 11 years ago when I found out they were getting back together last time. Even though I've seen them five times, I'm just as excited as I was then. I've never seen the original lineup. This is for real, kids.

So far, the dates are:

9/16: MusicFest NW 2009, Portland, OR
9/18: Crystal Ballroom, Portland, OR
9/20: Murray Theater, Salt Lake City, UT (unconfirmed?)
9/21: Ogden Theatre, Denver, CO
10/3: Center Stage Theatre, Atlanta, GA
10/13: The Fillmore, San Francisco, CA
10/16: The Paramount, Seattle, WA</strike>

I hope the Bumbershoot rumors are true, and that this tour starts in Seattle at Bumbershoot and ends in Seattle at the Paramount. No matter what happens I will be at any and all Seattle dates and hopefully the Portland dates too.

<strike>I WILL TRY TO KEEP THIS POST UPDATED WHEN NEW DATES LEAK OUT until there is an official announcement.</strike>

I eventually found out she was signing up for Twitter!!! Now I'm tempted to do it even though it looks stupid. I generally try to stay away from this "social networking" crap, and I especially don't like that Twitter encourages you to type like a moron with the 140 character limit. "OMG U USE TWITR 2?"

However, the fact that Twitter is being used by people in Iran to communicate details of the unrest in the country and stuff like that makes me think it could be a positive thing. And even though it's a proprietary service, at least some of the system is open-source.

I'm conflicted. Should I give up my principles and join Twitter because it might be slightly amusing, or stay strong?

View Poll: twitter
